Salary Range: $80,000 to $90,000 annual base salary range plus bonus

We are growing and have an incredible opportunity for a scientist experienced in fermentation biotechnology at our new Santa Fe, New Mexico lab to join a small multidisciplinary team focused on commercialization, scale-up, and product development. We run lab-scale bioreactors for process development, strain evaluation, and scale-up production. Our team builds our process to acommercial manufacturing scale in partnership with external contract manufacturing organizations. Your role will grow along with the scope of the challenges you’ll take on as this group continues to grow.
A day in the life as our Fermentation Scientist:
Setup and operate high-performance bioreactors performing quantitative analysis
Responsible for designing and assisting in the design, execution, and data analysis of projects
Scale process to manufacturing capability
Perform and monitor upstream processes
Prepare samples for analysis
Sample optimization for commercialization
Collaborate with the downstream processes team towards a finished product
Other duties as needed

Requirements
Who are you?
Ph.D., or advanced degree and experience in microbiology, biochemical engineering, biotechnology, fermentation engineering, or a related field
5 years of fermentation scale up experience in an industry fermentation laboratory
Experience with setup and operation of high-performance bioreactors and quantitative analysis of fermentation data
Experience carrying out upstream processing, including seed propagation, microorganism management, fermentation engineering, specification development, and related analytical techniques
Familiarity working with GM organisms
Great communicator - written and verbal
Team player and collaborator
Critical thinker and problem solver
Self starter who enjoys working autonomously as well as relationally collaborating with scientists to make appropriate and timely decisions to meet deadlines on experiments and projects
High level of competency in understanding experimental procedures performed to assure the accuracy and quality of results
Operate using microbiology lab GLP and techniques, and safety protocols
